Help shape the future of Inspiring Communities – Join our Board

We’re inviting expressions of interest from people who share our passion for community-led development and want to help guide the future of Inspiring Communities.

Since 2008, Inspiring Communities has championed community-led development (CLD) across Aotearoa, building capability, sharing knowledge and influencing change to support communities to lead their own futures.

As we look to the future, we’re seeking people who connect with our kaupapa and can bring fresh perspectives, diverse experiences and strategic thinking to our Board.

About the opportunity

Our Board plays an important role in guiding the strategic direction of Inspiring Communities, ensuring our work remains grounded in our vision of an Aotearoa where communities are at the centre of creating change to improve their own wellbeing.

Board members contribute their knowledge, experience and networks to help shape our direction, identify opportunities and support community-led change at both local and system levels.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from people who:

  • Are passionate about the role communities play in shaping positive change across Aotearoa
  • Have experience connecting communities, iwi, businesses and government to create opportunities for change
  • Are interested in the future of community-led development, both in Aotearoa and internationally
  • Can bring perspectives and connections from across the northern North Island, helping strengthen our geographic representation

A commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and supporting our ongoing journey as an effective Tāngata Tiriti organisation is central to this role.

Inspiring Communities is a small organisation with nationwide networks. We’re looking for Board members who bring a diverse range of skills, experience and perspectives, along with a willingness to actively contribute to our work.

What’s involved?

As a Board member, you’ll help provide strategic oversight and direction, champion community-led development and contribute to the ongoing development and sustainability of Inspiring Communities.

Members are also expected to review meeting papers, contribute to discussions and decision-making, and share ideas, connections and opportunities that support our work.
