Shared insights and community connection – May 2026

There’s no shortage of challenge in the community sector right now. Funding pressures, housing stress, growing inequities and ongoing system change are being felt across Aotearoa. Despite this, communities continue to show up for one another in practical and deeply generous ways. At a time when many decisions are becoming increasingly centralised, strong local relationships, participation and community voice matter more than ever.

Over the past few weeks we’ve also been listening through our Inspiring Communities survey. Thank you to everyone who shared your thoughts and ideas. A strong theme emerging is the importance of spaces to connect, reflect and learn alongside others doing similar mahi.

This month’s pānui reflects that focus. Alongside updates from Powerdigm and Child Rich Communities, you’ll find opportunities for learning and connection through our Building Skills workshop, new Te Tiriti Community of Practice, Community Building Block and upcoming gathering in Ōtepoti Dunedin, as well as further insights emerging from the survey.
