Welcome

The Waitaha CLD Network was formed to grow and strengthen regional connections for Community-led Development (CLD) practitioners in our region. Through opportunities for networking, peer support, growing CLD skills and knowledge, celebrating successes, resolving challenges and championing CLD approaches we will build this network together. Steve Jones-Poole has been engaged as a Coordinator for the Waitaha CLD Network. He can be contacted for more information by email: WaitahaCLD@inspiringcommunities.org.nz

Join our WhatsApp – Community Development Group!

A strong desire from the Networking Hui was the ability to easily connect with others who are working in the community development space across Waitaha, Canterbury. We are using the Whatsapp platform because of ease of use, security, and ability to join via your phone number.

The Community Development Group is a closed group requiring Admin approval to join and is monitored for relevant posts and discussions. Each week, a new topic for discussion and sharing ideas will be posted.

  • CLICK HERE to join the Community Development Group
  • It will take you to WhatsApp where you can download and/or open the app to join the group
  • The Group Admin will check and approve you joining the group
  • Post a ‘Hello’ message and begin networking and discussion

If you have any questions about the Community Development Group or how to join please contact Steve, phone 021 1863 645 or email waitahaCLD@inspiringcommunities.org.nz

Waitaha CLD CONNECT – 2025 – Expressions of Interest

CONNECT is a CLD community of practice with up to 8 participants who meet over four x 1.5 hour sessions over a two month period to share and explore the ins and outs of doing CLD. These facilitated sessions are a great way to get new ideas and support for the tricky stuff we all face, with participants sharing their knowledge and perspective to help each other develop their community development practice and move forward on challenges.

  • Session dates/times will be arranged directly with participants
  • We will work out with those interested in participating whether the CONNECT sessions are run as in-person or online sessions.
  • $79 plus GST for community and volunteer organisations, $95 plus GST for local council/govt/funders

“Initially I was concerned that attending this group would add to my workload, but it didn’t – it was instead an energizing and refreshing experience.”
